Tell me about your professional background

I’ve been working on environmental and sustainability projects since 2007. This primarily involved working in consultancy services to help small and medium enterprises align their operations to their visions. I also worked on several circular economy projects, particularly in the agricultural sector. In 2021, I moved into a new role as an ESG manager. 

Why did you decide to do a sustainability course? 

For some time, I had been searching for a course that would allow me to update my knowledge in the field of sustainability and, at the same time, provide useful tools for the development of tasks required within a company. After an intense search, I found the ISS course, and it seemed to meet all the expectations I had.

How was your learning experience on the course?

I really enjoyed the course. It acted as a refresher for me, and the faculty was excellent and provided me with a lot of practical tools I could use in everyday operations. 

For instance, we received a lot of tools for assessing how companies are working concerning sustainability in the supply chain. I appreciated the quality of the content on the Diploma course and how relevant it was in the real world. The flexibility was also brilliant, and being able to watch the recordings at a time that suited me.

How has the course helped your career?

Completing the Diploma gave me different perspectives on a lot of sustainability-related areas in terms of locations like the UK and Ireland. The Diploma also helped me determine how to achieve my goal of transitioning from consultancy services to a full-time position at a company in a sustainability role. 

Having completed the course, I now feel more comfortable and confident talking about different areas of sustainability. Naturally, I also feel that having this Diploma helped me land my current position. I had experience and knowledge prior, but the course helped me to refresh all the concepts, which was paramount.

Would you recommend the course to others? 

For me, it was the best decision to do the Diploma in Business Sustainability course at the Institute of Sustainability Studies, so I would highly recommend it.
