Tell me about your professional background
I work in healthcare at Lady’s Hospice and Care Services in Harold’s Cross. I decided to do a sustainability course because I was tasked with setting up the Green and Energy Committee at work.
Why did you choose the Institute of Sustainability Studies as your educational provider?
I had minimal knowledge of sustainability and researched a number of different options. The Institute of Sustainability Studies website jumped out at me when I was browsing. Having not studied for 40 years, it seemed very accessible, and I liked the idea that it was online and I could pace my studies. I reached out and received an extensive brochure, and the curriculum ticked all the boxes for me. I really liked the way the course was structured.
Can you tell me about your learning experience on the course?
I found the workbook to be typically invaluable, especially when it came to revision for assessments. I also appreciated the structure of the course in the sense that the first six modules were a bit lighter compared to the second six. I found I became very interested in the topic of sustainability while studying the course, and even now, I’m engaging in further reading and keen to learn more.
Which modules did you enjoy the most?
I’d say I enjoyed the first six modules the most – Introduction to Business Sustainability, Sustainability Plan Development, Sustainability Plan Implementation, Decarbonisation, Circular Economy, and Business with Biodiversity.
Would you recommend the Diploma course to other professionals?
Definitely. I’ve already told everyone on our committee about the course and recommended they do it.
