Can you tell me about your professional background?
My professional background is mainly in corporate compliance and quality assurance. I am the Director of Operations at ThermalWorks, an engineering company. Our waterless cooling is transforming the data centre landscape and our modular systems are built to handle high-density loads and high ambient temperatures. This drastically reduces energy usage and eliminates water consumption in any climate.
Why did you choose the Institute of Sustainability Studies as your educational provider?
We were thinking about setting up an ESG programme at our company, so I was looking for something from a compliance standpoint. We recognise that Europe is leading the way in the ESG market, so I figured it would be a good idea to enrol on a course within Europe. I was also looking for courses that were in English. I came across the course at ISS and felt it was a good option with everything I needed.
How did you find the learning experience?
The course structure, expert faculty, and online flexibility made learning both accessible and practical. The course was put together really well. It was practical and comprehensive, and the faculty was very knowledgeable. The online nature of the course was also beneficial for me since I could simply hop on and work in my own time. It was also fantastic to join like-minded people from different industries and understand their unique challenges.
What impact has the course had on your organisation?
The course helped me a lot in identifying ways we can be more sustainable, such as building a more resilient supply chain, reducing our packaging, and understanding what we should be measuring. It gave me the ability to speak confidently about sustainability with our clients. Our whole company is focused on energy and water efficiency, but we’re interested in pushing further and developing other aspects of sustainable business. We’re now at a point where we’re looking into things like B Corp certification too.
