Tell me about your professional background
I work for an ergonomic office furniture company based in Sussex. We sell a lot to private and public entities and have a worldwide supply base.
Why did you decide to do a business sustainability course?
My main reason for taking the course was I wanted to understand where our emissions came from and what the implications of our supply chain were. It was mainly a personal decision, but I also recognised that we are obligated to fulfil certain criteria by our clients. They are reporting on emissions, and we have to feed into that particular system through whatever framework is appropriate.
Why did you choose the Institute of Sustainability Studies as your educational provider?Â
I liked how the course was presented online and felt it was the best option of all the courses I looked at. The fact the course was online and flexible was another big deciding factor. The course being credible and accredited was also important for me.
Can you tell me about your learning experience on the course?
I really enjoyed the course. Since my background is in marketing, I probably gravitated towards the greenwashing module the most. I also really enjoyed the supply chain module, though, since figuring out those emissions was one of my main goals going into this. The case studies were also very good because I could see what other companies of a similar size were doing with respect to sustainability. This meant they could act as a reference point.
Would you recommend the Diploma course to other professionals?
I definitely would recommend the course to others interested in diving deeper into the topic of sustainability through a business lens.
