Can you tell me about your professional background?
I hold a degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford and an MBA in Strategy, HRM, and People Development. With a strong business background, I work as a coach and also teach 16 to 19-year-olds FE and Degree-level students, including those with SEND backgrounds.
Why did you decide to do a course in business sustainability?
For the public sector, there is a big focus on the green economy, and everyone is working to elevate their footprint. Sustainability skills are also becoming essential for standing out as a professional with government regulations coming in. I ultimately wanted to dive into this topic further. As part of my role as a teacher/Lecturer, I teach a green economy module and wanted to round my knowledge, going deeper into other areas of business sustainability I wasn’t as familiar with.Â
Tell me about your learning experience and how you found navigating the course.Â
I appreciated the flexibility and how the course fit in around my workday and commitments. It was great to be able to connect with the faculty too. The high-quality delivery of the course made it really worthwhile and valuable. The faculty were very knowledgeable, and I liked that they were experts in their field with real-world experience. Ultimately, I got exactly what I needed from the course.
What modules and topics did you gravitate towards the most?
I particularly enjoyed the decarbonisation section, but the sustainable finance module also opened my eyes in ways I had never considered before.
What would you say to someone on the fence about doing the course?
If you want to learn about business sustainability in real depth, this is the course for you. The course was incredibly informative. It is enhancing my professional profile, and the knowledge couldn’t be more relevant today, given the situation we are in and the need to act on climate change.
